Casio, Fuji, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and Samsung all have new pink camera releases scheduled for this spring, and we have put together a short overview of each:

Casio

Casio announced that they are releasing four new models: the EX-Z270, the EX-Z400, the EX-S5 and the EX-S12 in March 2009.

One exciting new feature is the “Dynamic Photo” function (in the Z270, Z400 and S12), which makes it possible to cut out the subject in a photo and put it in another photo for a different background, or create a collage using parts of several different photos right in the camera. Other improvements include the new Engine 4.0, with better colors, less noise, auto-tracking of moving subjects, and less energy consumption (=longer battery life). The Z400 and Z270 also have a “makeup” function which smoothes the skin and soften the shadows on people’s faces. Specs in short:

EXILIM Zoom EX-Z270
10.1 megapixels, 4x optical zoom, 28-112mm focal length, 2.7″ display, 37 best shot modes, anti-shake, face detection, HD movie recording, YouTube mode. Weight: 3.9 oz. Size: 3.9×2.2×0.8”. MSRP $229.99

EXILIM Zoom EX-Z400
12.1 megapixels, 4x optical zoom, 28-112mm focal length, 3″ display, 39 best shot modes, anti-shake, face detection, HD movie recording, YouTube mode. Weight: 4.6 oz. Size: 3.8×2.3×0.9”. MSRP $299.99

EXILIM Card EX-S12
12.1 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 2.7″ display, 41 best shot modes, anti-shake, face detection, HD movie recording, YouTube mode. Weight: 3.9 oz. Size: 3.7×2.2×0.6”. MSRP $249.99

EXILIM Card EX-S5
10.1 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 2.7″ display, 23 best shot modes, face detection, HD movie recording, YouTube mode. Weight: 3.5 oz. Size: 3.8×2.2×0.7”. MSRP $179.99.

So you got that great, gorgeous pink camera, and it’s all you expected and more. But how about accessorizing it with some fun peripherals? Here are some of our favorites (for bags and cases, check out our Camera Bags And Cases post.

Canon SELPHY CP760 Photo Printer
This great little printer (in “Pink Melody”) is Windows and Mac compatible, accepts a myriad of memory cards, and produces water-resistant, brilliant prints up to 4×8″. Its small size (7.9″ W x 3.3″ H x 5.6″ D) and weight (only 2.1 lbs) make it a perfect choice for those who like to print on the go (while traveling, at a friends house, etc.).

Gorillapod
The Gorillapod is a fabulous invention! These light, totally flexible and inexpensive tripods are not only easy to carry along everywhere, their bendable legs can also be attached to just about everything (a car mirror, tree branch, your bike, you name it). They come in several sizes to fit everything from cell phones to heavy professional SLRs and camcorders. The “original” size (for point-and-shoot cameras up to 11.5 oz) now also comes in different colors, pink being one of them. Since they’re so small and light, you can carry one with you wherever you go. You never know when you’ll need it: for fireworks, doing still lifes indoors, or to give moving water that dreamy, flowy effect (use a very slow shutter speed).

Transcend M5 Card Reader
Hot pink, tiny and inexpensive, the Transcend M5 card reader is a great choice, especially if you have a bunch of different electronics you want to download photos, music, or videos from. It is compatible with almost every memory card available and transfers are fast thanks to the high-speed USB 2.0 interface.

Memory Card Case
It is surprisingly difficult to find a pink memory card case (are you listening, manufacturers?), but after doing a lot of research, we did find a couple. The first one comes from Capdase (based in Hong Kong) and is a soft, stylish salmon pink pouch/wallet-like thing, which holds a variety of cards and sells for around $6. The second one, a hard plastic case with a hot pink interior, is made by Hakuba and holds 4 or 8 memory stick cards.
